Sterling Ropes are designed to provide you the best protection possible. All Sterling ropes, including the Sterling Static, use 48 separate strands of yarn in the sheath. The result is a rope with a smoother finish, having a better “hand”. This sheath also prolongs the useful service life of the rope. Plus, friction is reduced when drawing the rope through protection and there is less vibration during rappels.

Sterling uses Allied Caprolan®, a high-quality polyamide fiber, in all of its cores. Its stretch profile is superior relative to other types of nylon absorbing more shock under high load, giving them the low impact force number in their Dynamic ropes.

UIAA Laboratory tests demonstrate the low stretch of Sterling Dynamic under an 80kg load. Low elongation is critical to preventing cratering on the rock below.

To inhibit the absorption of moisture, all Sterling Static and Dynamic cores are made with SeaGard®, a proprietary Allied Signal yarn finish. This finish is an integral part of the manufacturing process and serves to protect the yarn during the braiding and handling operations. SeaGard® also helps in maintaining the strength of your rope in wet climbing or rescue operations. All Sterling Ropes are temperature balanced. This means that the cores and the covers have been similarly heat treated to insure even stretch characteristics.

Fire Rescue Ropes

Highest quality tag lines and personal escape ropes

RIT 900™, RIT 500™, RIT Response and FireTech32™ were developed specifically for overcoming extreme heat, fire ground obstacles, and poor visibility when searching for and rescuing trapped firefighters or civilians.

Sterling Rope RIT Lines and escape ropes utilize aramid fibers which are critical when working in situations where exposure to high heat may occur.

Sterling’s personal escape ropes yield a perfect balance of strength, abrasion resistance, and handling.

Dynamic Ropes

Single and double ropes used for alpine, mountain and sport climbing. Sterling Dynamics are also offered with a dry treatment. A wet rope is cumbersome to carry, has a lower tensile strength and has compromised knotability at temperatures near freezing. A good dry treatment not only deals with these issues, but also repels dirt. Sterling uses a polymer that is free of wax and petroleum distillates, so it is less likely to attract dirt.
